How to import your feeds into an RSS reader
The file you download from the checker is an OPML file: a list of feeds that almost every RSS reader can import in one go. Import it once, and your new feeds start filling up with posts within a minute or two. If your reader can’t import files, you can add the feeds one at a time instead.
- Download your new feeds as one OPML file
- Open your reader and choose Import OPML
- Read: posts arrive in folders named after the subreddit they replace
Pick a reader
Any of these will do. If you don’t have one yet, start with the free pick for your device. Each step below comes from the reader’s own help pages or app.
Import steps for each reader
Menu names change between versions. If a step doesn’t match what you see, look for Import or OPML in settings.

Good to know
- Nothing is replaced. Importing adds feeds next to the ones you already have.
- Old Reddit feeds stay until you remove them. Unsubscribe from them, or start fresh by importing the cleaned OPML (your list without Reddit) into a new account.
- Phones: some readers only import on the web. Feedly is one; use it in a browser on your computer, and the feeds sync to your phone.
- Free plans have limits. Reeder’s free version can’t import files and follows up to 10 feeds. Inoreader’s free plan follows up to 150.
No file? Add feeds one at a time
OPML is just the quickest way to add many feeds at once. Every reader also lets you add a single feed by its link. On the results page, each feed you picked has a Copy link button, and for Reeder and NewsBlur an Add button that opens the app with the feed filled in. You can also copy all the links at once.
